2014 Write-on Competition

This year, the journals will be hosting the Write-On Competition on TWEN, an online “classroom” service similar to Blackboard, provided by West. The “problem” case and the closed, limited universe of research materials for the 2014 Competition will be posted to TWEN and time-released to eligible competitors at the beginning of the competition, on Friday, July 18th at noon. Those students eligible to participate in the Write-On Competition have been automatically enrolled in the TWEN community; for information on how to access the TWEN system and Write-On materials, please see the “2014 Write-On Competition Instructional Packet” link, below.

Write-On Rules: OCLJ/Law Review Write-On Competition

Before the start of the competition, please contact the Registrar, Brenda Berry (brenda.berry@maine.edu, 207-780-4346), to obtain your competition number.  Please do not contact Brenda until one week before the Write-On Competition (July 11th), as she will not have your competition numbers until this time. When requesting your Competition Number, you must send your request through your University of Maine System (maine.edu) e-mail account.  Provide Brenda with your contact information, including a phone number, at which you may be readily reached between Monday, August 4, 2014, and Monday, August 18, 2014.  No correlation will be made between names and competition numbers until submissions have been reviewed anonymously and Write-On scores have been forwarded to the Editors-in-Chief of both journals.


Competition Rules

Questions?

Questions from competitors will be accepted during the competition only, starting at 12:00 p.m. on July 18, 2014. Questions may be submitted through TWEN, and must be submitted anonymously. The journal editors will post responses to TWEN within 24 hours of submittal; all competitors will be notified when a questions is anonymously submitted and answered. Submitting Your Case Note

Submissions must be received by NOON on Monday, August 4, 2014. No requests for extensions or exceptions to this deadline will be entertained. For information on how to submit your case note, please see the “2014 Write-On Competition Instructional Packet” link, located above, for instructions.

Orientation

Orientation for all current and rising members of the journals will be held on Monday and Tuesday, August 25 & 26, 2014. Attendance is mandatory, and students are expected to be in attendance from 8:30am to 5pm
