Timothy Steigelman is an associate at Kelly Remmel & Zimmerman in Portland, Maine. His varied civil practice includes business and commercial law, as well as admiralty and maritime law. He is admitted to practice before state and federal courts in Maine and Massachusetts. As part of his law practice, Tim presented to the Maine Harbormasters Association, discussing the interplay between federal admiralty law with state statutes and municipal ordinances. Tim has also appeared as a guest speaker on the subject of piracy.
Tim is a reserve naval officer, and previously served on active duty in the U.S. Navy. He currently commands a reserve unit, and has served as officer-in-charge, afloat and ashore, on active and reserve duty. On a recall to active duty Tim served with a joint special operations unit, coordinating with host nation forces, U.S. embassy staff, and American advisors on counter-terrorism missions. He previously deployed to the Persian Gulf on a guided missile destroyer.
Tim holds a B.S. from the U.S. Naval Academy, an M.A. from the University of Maryland, a Diploma from the U.S. Naval War College, and a J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law.
Tim is teaching National Security Law at the Law School this Fall.
